Listent to this article Captivating Millions: A YouTuber’s Journey Of Raising A Pet Pig And Sharing A Meal
Introducing Kalbi, the Adorable Pink Piglet
In the heartwarming realm of pet companionship, Kalbi, the pink piglet, captured the affection of many. Contrary to its tongue-in-cheek name derived from Korean cuisine, symbolizing roasted short ribs, Kalbi was nurtured with utmost care. Swathed in blankets like a beloved baby and dressed in charming ensembles, this delightful piglet quickly became an internet sensation. Within weeks of its debut, the YouTube channel showcasing Kalbi’s enchanting escapades gained an impressive following of over 100,000 devoted subscribers.

The Dilemma: Love versus Controversy
Amidst the endearing footage of Kalbi’s joyful existence, an unsettling twist emerged. The YouTuber behind the channel occasionally flashed raw pork meat at the camera, hinting at a perplexing objective—to consume Kalbi after a 100-day interval. Viewers, captivated by the pig’s charm, pleaded with the YouTuber to spare Kalbi’s life. Outraged and deeply concerned, they denounced the act as a form of animal cruelty, even labeling the host as a psychopath. One commenter aptly implored the owner to step into Kalbi’s hooves, asking how it would feel to be deeply cherished while someone awaited the opportunity to end your life.
The Fateful 100th Day and Its Aftermath
The much-anticipated culmination arrived on September 1, as the YouTube channel titled “Eaten Pig after 100 days” unveiled a video that left little doubt about Kalbi’s fate. The owner solemnly extracted a pig carcass from a humble cardboard box, proceeding to season and cook the meat. At this point, Kalbi’s demise seemed all but certain.

Outrage and Reflection
In the aftermath, the video garnered millions of views and sparked an outpouring of condemnation. Comments overflowed with terms like “abnormal,” “cruel,” and “disgusting.” Strikingly, this video eclipsed the combined viewership of the channel’s other 102 films. Meanwhile, the YouTuber, who chose to remain anonymous due to safety concerns, faced death threats and bomb threats as repercussions for their actions. In an exclusive interview with VICE World News, the channel owner expressed their intention to provoke contemplation about dietary choices. Their aim was to expose the reality that supermarket meat originates from animals as endearing as Kalbi, urging consumers to acknowledge the sacrifice made by these creatures if they choose to partake in meat consumption.
Shedding Light on Food Waste
Beyond the controversy surrounding Kalbi, the YouTuber drew attention to the global issue of food waste. Emphasizing the preciousness of meat as a resource, they aimed to reshape people’s perceptions. In Japan, authorities have implemented measures to combat food loss. A 2019 government survey revealed that nearly 80 percent of individuals were taking conscious actions, such as buying fewer groceries at once, utilizing leftovers, and consuming food beyond the best-by date, to combat waste.
