On May 7th, 2023, a 14-year-old girl was shot in the head while playing hide and seek in Starks, Louisiana. The shooter was later identified as David V. Doyle, a 58-year-old neighbor of the children. The incident resulted in Doyle’s arrest and multiple charges.

What Happened
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that Doyle fired a gun on a group of kids playing on his property and accidentally hit the girl. Several children used Doyle’s property to hide while playing in the area. According to the sheriff’s office, Doyle retrieved his gun after seeing shadows outside his house and fired after seeing individuals running from his property. Deputies responded to the shooting early in the morning and discovered the teenager had been shot in the back of the head.
Arrest and Charges
Following the incident, Doyle was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, and illegal discharge of a firearm. He remained in jail as of May 8th, according to online records.
The Girl’s Condition
The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, as stated by the deputies.Also her identity has not been publicly revealed.
