A white man in North Kansas City shot Ralph Yarl, a 16-year-old Black boy, twice in the head after he mistakenly rang the doorbell of the wrong home while attempting to pick up his sibling.Moreover Yarl’s family and community members are describing the incident as a hate crime and are demanding justice for the young victim.

Outrage Over Perpetrator’s Release
Police took the white man who shot Yarl to headquarters briefly for a statement, but they released him shortly after without charging him. Yarl’s family and supporters are expressing outrage over the perpetrator’s lack of accountability for his actions.
Family Speaks Out Against Racial Violence
Dr. Faith Spoonmore, Yarl’s aunt, has condemned the shooting as a hate crime and criticized the police for not taking action against the perpetrator. She stated, “This man intended to kill an innocent child simply because he rang the doorbell of the wrong house. The perpetrator looked Ralph Yarl in the face and shot him. Ralph Yarl, who is a great and intelligent Black boy, is now left with many broken pieces, according to his aunt, Dr. Faith Spoonmore.
