Walgreens Shooting Leaves Pregnant Woman Injured and Unidentified Suspect On The Run

A shooting incident that occurred outside a Walgreens store in Nashville on Thursday evening has left a pregnant woman injured and a suspect on the run. According to the Metro Nashville Police Department’s Homicide Unit, the shooting took place at around 8 p.m. outside the store located at 2500 Gallatin Avenue.

Altercation Over Stolen Items

According to reports, the incident commenced when a co-worker informed Mitarius Boyd, a 21-year-old Walgreens team leader, that two females were stealing items from the store. Boyd claimed to have witnessed the women placing items into a shopping cart and a personal bag before leaving the store without paying.

Boyd followed the women out of the store, recording them with his cell phone, and then proceeded to the back of the vehicle they were using to transport the stolen items. According to Boyd’s statement, one of the women began spraying him with mace when he reached the back of the vehicle.

Shooting and Emergency Medical Response

Boyd reacted to being maced by pulling out a semi-automatic pistol and firing several shots towards the women. He claimed that he was afraid for his safety as he did not know if the women were armed. As a result, Travonsha Ferguson, one of the women involved, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and required urgent medical attention. She was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.

Ferguson, who was pregnant at the time of the shooting, had to undergo emergency surgery via a C-section to deliver her baby, who weighed only two pounds. Reports indicate that both Ferguson and her baby are in stable condition but remain in critical care.

Ongoing Investigation

The police have not been able to identify the other woman who was with Ferguson, and she fled the scene in the car they arrived in. Boyd cooperated with the police investigation and surrendered his gun and cell phone to the authorities.Also police have yet to identify the other suspect or make an arrest, and detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.

Walgreens Response

In response to the shooting, Walgreens issued a statement condemning the incident and pledging to collaborate with local authorities. The statement affirmed that the safety of their patients, customers, and team members is their top priority, and that they will not tolerate any form of violence in their stores.We take this matter seriously and are cooperating with local authorities.”

As of now, it is unclear whether Boyd will face any charges in relation to the shooting. Furthermore, the case remains under investigation, and the police are urging anyone with information about the incident or the unidentified suspect to come forward.
