Four Students Charged After School Incident and Victim’s Suicide
During a recent press conference, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that he had charged four students in connection with the attack on Adriana. The authorities revealed the charges brought against the students, including aggravated assault for one student, harassment for another, and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault for two others. However, the prosecutor did not disclose the identities of these students to protect their privacy and well-being as they are minors facing criminal charges. Latest Development in School Incident Resulting in Victim’s Suicide
The prosecutor’s announcement marks the latest development in a case that has garnered national attention, following the posting of a video online depicting an incident that occurred in February. According to Triantafillo Parlapanides, the Superintendent of Central Regional School District, the incident involved one attack at Central Regional High School in Berkeley Township, and someone posted the video online. The superintendent also confirmed that the four students who were involved in the assault had been suspended.
Adriana’s father, Michael Kuch, stated in Facebook posts and to NBC New York that several students attacked his daughter while walking with her boyfriend in the hallway. He claimed that someone posted a video of the fight online and that Adriana, his freshman daughter, was tagged in it. He expressed his outrage over the school’s handling of the incident, stating that they never called the police, even though Adriana blacked out and had bruises on her body.
According to Superintendent Triantafillos Parlapanides, police were notified, and teachers and safety officers intervened in the fight. He declined to provide further details about the involved students or the fight. The Berkeley Township Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Allegations of Bullying
Michael Kuch stated that one of the girls involved in the altercation had been threatening his daughter online for a couple of years. He believes that bullying was a contributing factor in his daughter’s decision to take her own life. Students at the school held a rally for Adriana in protest of the school’s lack of response.
The incident has caused concern and debate on the issue of bullying and the responsibilities of schools and parents in preventing it. It is a tragedy that has affected many people, and our thoughts and prayers go out to Adriana’s family and friends.
