On Friday, a heart-stopping incident took place on the Las Vegas Strip as a police officer and a good samaritan teamed up to save a driver from a smoking car just moments before it burst into flames. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has released a video of the incident, showing the dramatic rescue that took place near Las Vegas Boulevard and Siegfried and Roy Drive, near the Venetian and Mirage hotels.
In the video, the crashed white sedan can be seen on fire as the police officer and the bystander quickly spring into action, pulling the driver out of the car and dragging the individual to safety. The timing of their actions was crucial as just seconds after the driver was pulled to safety, the smoke from the front of the car turned into a raging inferno.
The department posted on Facebook, “As you can see, both worked with only seconds to spare before the vehicle went up in flames.” The driver of the vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and the officer was also taken there as a precautionary measure.
The department has praised the quick thinking and heroic actions of the officer and the bystander, saying “We are so thankful for the quick actions of our officer and the bystander for saving a life!” The incident is currently being investigated by the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.
The social media post was flooded with comments from users praising the heroic actions of the bystander and the officer. One user wrote “Heroes! This person was saved because 2 heroes were selfless! Thank you both! Such a close call!!”
